The gauge reading for the Sipsey right now is almost 7'. It is normally less than 1.5'. There is some more water in the wilderness now and it is still coming down. Sure hope the guys have found a good sheltered place to hang tonight. The waterfalls will be spectacular tomorrow for sure. I wish I wasn't such a wimp, I'd head up tomorrow morning.

Wow, The falls will definately be kickin tomorrow. Mrprez left a message on my phone today and has decided to make the trip. I had to work late because of the storm and didn't make it this afternoon but will be leaving at 7am tomorrow. I hope that those who went today were able to find shelter when the thunderstorms rolled in. Maybe the rain will let up early tomorrow

The fellows in the Sipsey are really getting some snow. Been watching the 33/40 coverage. Looks like another heavy band passing the Sipsey area now. Looks like I picked the wrong time to be a wimp. Wish I was there.

I'm 40 miles East of the Wilderness (Arab) I got 1 1/2 Inches of snow between 6 and 9 this morning...it's 32 and the wind is howling...dunno what the wind chill is but it's freakin' cold....my idiot wife is outside playing with the neighbors......I dressed her for it but I'm NOT playin' dat dare......

wind picks up and blows the fallen snow vertically...bet they have a blast out there (IF they were prepared for it!)

Yea I'm about 90 miles south in Northport. It is coming down heavy now and has been for over and hour, at least 1 1/2 inches on top of the inch we already had. It's 32º and now sticking on our driveway. Went for a walk with my dog earlier. Wasn't bad except when the wind gusted.

    What a Trip!!!!!

I have to admit that I am new to all of this but what a great trip we just had. The trails were a little on the slick side and I got to bring several layers of the trail home with me but I still had a great time. We started out on the trail headed for the Clifty Creek Falls, but the water was up so high we could not cross and get there. After some discussion, we headed for Falls Creek Falls, I think!!! I have looked at my map and that appears where we went. Once we were there we had lunch by the waterfalls and then went about looking for a place to hang. The place we found was excellent, just by the area and shape of the cove we were in. It was even better when we woke up to almost 1 1/2 inches of new snow on the ground. Attached are some photos that I got....................

The trip report for this hangout is here.
