    grip clips

    has anyone tried these? http://shelter-systems.com/gripclips/

The price is right and I like the look of them better than the others I've seen. I like that they suggest using a cut out scrap of a balloon to keep the nylon from abrading; might be easy to put a scrap on each side of the tarp to keep the edges of the plastic padded.

Anyone used these? was thinking of adding one or two to each side of my tarp once in a while.

Yep they work great. My problem is keeping up with them! I bought the tiny ones. I put my own cord on there (Ed Speers No tangle line).

Grip Clips are a wonderful thing. I've used them a lot and it was nice having the extra room under the tarp. Two things: 1. USE THE BALLOONS! Those things slide across sil just like everything else does. It will scar your tarp and leave you sad . 2. Try to tie the lines out as close to horizontal as you can; other trees are great. Just helps limit any of that slide factor.

    You'll like them.

The others I've seen come with rope - I don't ever use the provided cord for things, I put other sorts of lighter or more visible cording on and discard the black cords. Why do people always use black lines on tents and things? makes absolutely no sense to me.

I think I will give these a try. I have some shocking pink mason line just right for the task.

I've been preaching the benefits of grip clips for a while now. They are really nice.

These come with rope as well. But, I like to use my own rope.

Someone at Mt Rogers was using that stuff you put under rugs to keep them from sliding around with their grip clips. I thought it was a cool idea.

I've been using them as well to hang my boots from the bottom of my hammock to keep them off the ground. They do work great.

I have some of the ones they sell at REI. MSR brand, maybe? I've never used balloons with them and not had any problems.
