All four ridge line sacks are done... might redo the wives' ( yellow one) because it was my first one and I got better at sewing by the last one . Here are pics of them.

They are hanging on my Woopie ridge line on the tree hugger on a support beam in my house. Now time to start the bodies of the hammocks.

Making good progress, your sewing looks good, much better than mine! Well... I find it hard to concentrate on doing things that don't change so I go too quickly after a while and my lines go a little wonky lol.

I will pop in a +1 for the soft shackle biner replacement, they work great and are quite fun to make.

Thanks for the kind words... I have one hammock roll hemmed all the way. Just tried to decide between a w whipping or a bunched whipping. Here is a shot of my stitching on my hammock( yeah that's right orange is mine)

Went with a w whip. With slight tug on the ends. I will hang in it tomorrow and see how she feels. And I need to redo my bag with a larger compartment on the little side so my tree huggers can go it there.

15 oz. Hammock, woopies, rigdeline, ridge line bag, and the bag I made.

Re: My DIY progress for four

Okay I went to JoAnn's and talked to a little old lady about the sheer curtain material and she showed me what it is. And it is 100% polyester volie sheer and is dry clean only... and is 7.99 a yard and is 118" wide. ( I will never pay full price at that place because you can always find 40 - 50 percent off coupons) so it will run me a Couple bucks more to use the same fabric as the curtain bug net....
But for 11.99 a yard same 118" width their is another 100% polyester volie sheer that is machine washable. So if I wait a week or two and acquire a 50% off coupon I am looking at 20 bucks a net per hammock all said and done for a washable bug net. Seems like a winner.

    Has anyone tried the volie?

Re: My DIY progress for four

I am yet to embark on the bug net adventure but have looked at materials including the voile, tulle and organza fabrics. My main issues are that I can't find a weight for most of these fabrics and I don't know the hole size (I've never seen a mosquito in Scotland but we have clouds of midgies (similar to no see ums but their bite is worse apparently)).

If the hole size is ok and it feels duravle enough then go for it, the double width will be ideal for making it quick and tidy.

Well I will stop by sometime and get a sample piece to bring home and measure the holes so it can be documented on the site. But as for toule I don't think it will hold up to many trips after seeing it and feeling it.
