    Ingress and Egress Question

During my inaugural outing in my new WBBB, I noticed that the bug net zipper seemed really stressed if I did not get it open fully before getting in or out of the hammock. Am I doing something wrong or is this proper procedure? Once in the hammock, I had trouble reaching the zippers, especially the foot end, to close things back up as I am about as flexible as a kiln dried 2x4. I would appreciate any tips and tricks for entry and exit that you experienced hangers have developed.

Another question for the calf ridge issue. When elevating the foot end, do you place the tree straps at different levels? Adjust at the buckles? Does it matter? I built a Turtledog stand for an upcomming outing where trees are not available and was wondering if I should angle the upper fence rail or ?

Thanks for all the helpful info on this site.

I think both answers are happy medium.... Just unzip far enough to where you can just reach them comfortably.. Tie some cordage of your choice to the zippers to aid you as well..... Yes, foot end tree straps higher..... Again... Playing around with your gear, to find what works for you, yourself is the fun part..... Take care...

Easiest way to set hang for me is straps at eye ish level. Tighten buckles to get 30is degrees then raise straps on trees to desired height.

    Zipper...as above says.

    zipper also-
    open wide before sitting down.
pull closed part-way before stretching out.
    stretch out.
Now zipper is easier to reach.

Glow in dark zipper pulls are helpful for me

It probably just "looks" stressed. The slider is non-locking so if enough force is applied it will slide on it's own to avoid damage.

My solution was to larkshead some zing-it to the zipper pull and tie the other end with a slippery half-hitch to the ridge line. Easy to grab, even when the pull is all the way down at my feet. Gets in the way if you want to use a ridge line organizer, but with the BB shelf, that doesn't seem particularly necessary.

    Ingress and Egress Question

I unzip it most but not all the way, then pull one leg inside, zip the foot end a bit more closed, then bend my second leg to get it in. By following this procedure, the foot end zipper isn't all that far away once I'm fully in.

I unzip pretty much all the way, sit on the side then pull the foot end zipper down, pull feet inside then close the zipper fully. The suggestion of putting some cordage on the pulls is a great idea...amazing how the simple things are not always directly apparent.

Put a string on your zipper hand anchor it on your ridgeline up in the center. Get in the hammock, pull the string. I usually try to have it just far enough to get in but you can in-advertently open that zipper all the way up when your getting in with big feet like mine.

    It's all practice.

I also have a line with one end attached to the foot end zipper pull and the other connected to the ridgeline with a mitten hook for easy sliding...link to photo.
