Thumbs up Down UQ survived rain

Over the weekend, three of my girls and I camped out in the backyard. Trip Report

Rain was dumped into my hammock from one of the tarps collecting water. There was a puddle of water in the bottom of my down UQ. I dumped it out and left it and the hammock outside under the tarps as it was still raining and I had nowhere inside to dry them properly. It rained off and on all day Saturday and yesterday. Several times, I had to tighten back down the tarps as the ground was so soft that the stakes kept coming up. Both hammocks and UQs were getting wet off and on. This morning, I went out and the tarps were flapping, but dry, so I went ahead and took them down. The down UQ had a small puddle of muddy looking water in the bottom...lovely. So, I dumped it out and took it inside. I spread it out on the floor until the dryer would be available. I just went to get it to put it into the dryer and I noticed that it didn't seem wet. The down is all nice and fluffy!!! It wasn't compressed and wet feeling at all inside. I threw it into the dryer on very low for good measure just to be sure to get any moisture out.

I made my UQ from the 1.1 ripstop seconds that DIY Gear Supply carries. This is the first time I have camped in the rain and fortunately, I didn't have to sleep in a wet hammock since I was at home. However, had this happened in the woods where I would not have had that option, I feel better knowing that my UQ can survive and still be functional even after having rain dumped inside of it and allowed to sit for a period of time.
