larks-head your fixed loop behind the whipping.

I personally like tying a knot in the end of my gathered-end hammocks rather than whipping...easier to do and gives more material for the larks-head to grab.

So you just gather the material at the end and tie a overhand knot?

    Then larks-head behind the knot?

Even if it is a little bit late for your already whipped hammock:

I spliced a locked brummel fix eye loop in the amsteel line first and whipped it afterwards. Works like a charm and takes 2 minutes.

There seems to be a way to make a fix eye loop splice with only one loose end available, the Mc Donald brummel
