    Snugpak

    Hey all.

First I tried doing a search and didn't find a thing.
    So I'm going to ask.
Does anyone know of an item called a snugpak?

    Snugpak

I have two snugpak sleeping bags. They compress down very well and I've never been cold in them.

Snugpak is a British outfitter that makes alot of military surplus knockoff's and real military stuff as well - sleeping bags, backpacks, etc... They do have approved sellers in the U.S. like Sportsman's Guide for some of there packs.

    Re: Snugpak

I have only good things to say about my sleeping bag (snugpak chrysalis 4) and the build quality of my snugpak uq. It might be too warm though

They are a british company and have many stockists over this side of the pond.
Snugpak make clothing as well but I have no idea of how they are.

They also only use synthetic insulation in their products and have patented the type they have developed, it is called softie and I have no clue as to how it differs from other synth ins.

I have found that the products I have compress quite well compared too tge cheap synth bags I previously used and they have a better weight to warmth ratio... I still can't wait until I can afford down goodies though

As mentioned, Snugpak are a UK manufacturer of quality outdoors kit, big in the military over here, I grew up about four miles from their factory.

My friend Ian Dent-Willoughby developed the Cocoon idea a number of years ago, he worked with Snupak to produce them using their well regarded fabrics and insulation technology. The Cocoon is quite a lump but they are every bit as good as the pod systems available today, just a bit heavier and bulkier.
Ian also developed an underquilt and a top quilt from the same materials, I never got to try the TQ but the UQ was a great bit of kit, easily standing up to -10*c on a couple of occasions. The Cocoon is hard to come by these days but they do pop up, I'm not sure if they're manufactured any more but I can find out if you're really interested. The TQ and UQ are both available from Hennies and a couple of other outlets.

I'd still be using mine today if it wasn't for a pal putting me onto HF a few years back
