    Pictures of suspension

Could I trouble someone to post a picture of how the primary / secondary suspension system works? Preferably for a Phoenix, but I'd take anything relevant.

I've rigged mine up okay, but how I'm doing it seems wrong. Simply clipping the primary suspension into the bottom of the s-biner attached to the secondary suspension seems pointless and it doesn't really fit very well that way. Where does the primary suspension attach to?

What I'm calling the primary suspension is the one that runs through the channels along the side of the UQ. It has no s-biner, just a knot tying the two ends to gether, forming a long loop that runs a circuit around the UQ. I think that's the one Stormcrow calls the primary suspension anyway.

Any help, especially pictorial, would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Igon

You should trouble Stormcrow - he's working on that just for you!

I've looked through that thread. Stormcrow's description is more of a justification rather than instruction. The replies don't really clear it up for me either. I'm sure it's helpful for someone who's had other under quilts and wants to understand why he's created this new thing. But for someone like me who is new to the world of under-quilts, and has no context for what's being said, it's just noise.

As a new user, I just want to know where to hook the primary suspension. The S-biner on the secondary hooks to the line coming off the end of the hammock, where does the other suspension attach? To the S-biner?

I hope I'm not coming across as negative. Just the opposite, I love this thing. The craftsmanship is superb and the pricing is fair. I love the forum and all you awesome people on it. I'm just trying to be clear about what I don't understand.

I just replied to that other thread with my best explanation. I'll add the pic here too. This is my DIY quilt suspension modeled after my incubator. The primary/secondary suspensions both go to the same s-biner. The primary just holds the quilt up high and tight. I it isn't tight enough, then you make the shock cord shorter by tying an overhand knot. The purpose of the secondary suspension is to be able to pull one end tighter and keep it that way. You can also use it to pull the foot box corner tighter to ensure better coverage. The tiny cord simply cinches the draft collar tight.

Thank you for the clarification. The explanation that they do, indeed, both go to the same S-biner is the piece of the puzzle I was missing.

    Thank you for sharing.

When I got my HG quilt with secondary suspension it came with only one S-Biner. Talk about momentary confusion. I spent hours reading the forums trying to figure out how the heck it could possibly work with one S-Biner.
