    Pimp my ABES

Well, finally got a chance to hang my ABES yesterday, and overall, I am satisfied with it, so now it's time to make it better.

Right off the bat, I am thinking of the following changes:
    1) Side tie-outs on the hammock. I like to pull away the sides a bit for a more roomy feel. I figure I can just sew some loops on the sides, only question is what to do on the side with the bag in the middle.
    2) Replace the s-hooks with a strap system of some sort.
    3) Do something else with holding up the netting. I don't like how that is setup, too much to mess with when you have to hang the two extra lines to hold up the netting. I am thinking a ridge line that it could attach to, not sure if that would get it up high enough though?

So what changes are others planing to make? And what advice and pictures do you have for those who already have? I figured we could start a thread on ways to customize what is a pretty good base of a hammock system, IMHO.

You might want to try grip clips for the side pullouts. This would allow you to adjust the position until you found what works best for you. After you decide you like the spots, you could always sew on some loops later.

here's a pic of my mods. very simple with webbing, amsteel blue, and cinch buckles. use small bungee and glove hooks for the netting. Im very happy to say that the hammock is well made and fits my 5'6" frame nicely. Another bonus, the 2/3 UQ I made for my bridge works great on this one too.

the hex tarp is not a part of the ABES system, i made that one.

I replaced the S-Hooks with rappel rings and am using webbing from Strapworks for my suspension.

Grizz added an internal ridgeline to his SBPro in this thread. I hope to be trying this soon since I don't like the ridgeline outside of the bugnet.

Thanks for all the good ideas. I am still mulling over how to proceed. If I do an internal (under the net) ridgeline, that would make using it without the net rather difficult wouldn't it?

Highly recommend this method as well. Worked great on my Claytor as it now looks almost like a HH.

Does it really matter if the net is there when it's not exactly needed? I mean as long as it's pulled up out of the way what's the difference? Also one person in Grizz's internal ridgeline thread suggested making a velcro system on the ridgeline to hold the net up.

Unfortunately not atm. And I can't really get any soon because I tore my rotator cuff so setting up my hammock would be a very painful experience for the next week at least
