    Hennessy with an UQ

Hi all, This is my First Thread here on the Forum! I am wondering about my new Hennessy. I have a couple DIYs and an Amazon but the HH is my first bottom loader. I am wondering if or how everyone sets up UQ with bottom loaders. are there any tricks to it or do you just have to get in and fiddle with it until it works? Thanks all.

    Welcome aboard!
When I had a bottom entry HH, I used a 3/4 length Jarbidge UQ from Arrowhead Equipment and it worked just fine (still use the UQ, but switched to a side entry HH). It's a nice, cozy UQ and the price can't be beat. Paul also makes a UQ made especially for HH bottom entries, but I can't recall the name of it. Check out their website, you won't be disappointed.

I have a bottom loader as well. My theory is to get a UQ and make an opening in it like the hammock. You would have to close it manually I guess or make it overlap, but maybe it would work. Obviuosly, I haven't tried it, so I would welcome any thoughts on that as well.

I have an HH Classic (Bottom load) and purchased the JRB (Jacks R Better) UQ, The Nest. It is made to fit the bottom loader and includes a velcro opening that matches up to the HH opening. Nothing to do but install The Nest per the instructions that comes with it, tighten it up to your liking, and hop in.

The Nest and Winter Nest are the only full length UQ made that marry with the HH bottom entry...Actually they are the original commercially available UQ.

yeah same thing i use "The Nest"

Only problem i seem to have is since you lay diagonally your one shoulder and or feet may get cold, in colder weather.

I made a DIY quilt, and have a hammock gear incubator. Neither have a bottom "opening". I find its really easy to push the UQ to one side, get in, and let the quilt snap back into place. I have seen instructions for an underquilt with a bottom loading "door", basically you add Velcro that the Hennessy Velcro attaches to, and when you close the flap, the UQ clamps shut too.

I have the Hennessy SS and it works with the bottom entry. Sometimes take a little wiggling to get the foam pad to slide back to where it should be though...

I am a little late with this, but I use a KAQ Potomac with my bottom entry HH Explorer Deluxe. It is made to fit the HH, but is not cut down the middle. To get in you simply move it to the side, and get in. When you want out, open the velcro slit of the hammock and slide the UQ over so you can get your feet out. I have never had a problem getting in or out and Arrowhead Equipment makes top notch stuff.

I was originally looking at the Jacks R Better, but the sticker shock was too much for me to overcome.

I've got a HH Explorer Deluxe, bottom entry. I've since had it modded with the 2QZQ mod #4 (love it!).

I also recently bought an O.W.L. full length UQ, and just put together a review and demo video showing that you can get in/out of the hammock with a full length UQ.

Not easy, but doable. You'll also find it harder to readjust the UQ once you get into the hammock if you don't have the side zip, but again, doable if you're patient.
