    Thumbs up Underquilts.com TQ Thanks!

    The Master Plan
About a week or so ago, Dave at www.underquilts.com and I hashed out a plan where I would drop ship him the materials needed to make a 50" x 84" top quilt. It will have 16 2.5" baffels and will be filled with 13 oz of down(900fp down from www.wildernesslogics.com. This quilt will turn out to be a 20* quilt with 2-3oz of overstuff. I hope to be able to take it down to the 0-10* range or maybe lower! The exterior will be made of m90 and the interior will be made of m50. The baffles are made out of no-seeum.(all from www.thru-hiker.com He is also going to install channels and cords in the head and foot end. Later I plan on sewing a 20" zipper into the foot box and adding gross-gain loops with snaps.

    My Impression
All in all Dave was a pleasure to work with and I am super excited to see my final product stuffed with down and all assembled. Dave saved me a whole bunch of hassle. I know if I would have tried this project myself, even with my DIY experience, that I would have ended up with a usable experimental design. But being that I want this to use, and to last me for years, I thought Dave was the guy to do it for me. He charged me a very reasonable price and despite it feeling like forever due to my impatience this has all been a fairly speedy processes. He even wrote about me in his blog.

Here's what it looked like when I finished it. Working with M50/M90 is like working with thin plastic sheets with no edge fraying.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

My dad got it in the mail today. Unfortuanately im at school and cant finish it! Its torture. But the shell weighs in at around 8oz. Adding my 13oz of down, a zipper and a few snaps, I think ill have a quilt to take me to 0* for about 22-23oz! Needless to say im excited. Thanks again Dave and Underquilts.com
