OFFICIAL June 7-9th NEHHA Hang planning thread

I hope that folks treat their clothing, hammocks, packs, and tarps with Permethrin prior to coming, or spray everything with Permethrin spray at the hang! Ticks, Chiggers, spiders, ants, flies, and other annoying insects will croak if they land on it!

I sprayed a small blanket I was using to step on from the hammock with Permethrin, and slathered myself in Deet at a deep woods stealth hang last summer. They did the job. When I went to unfold the blanket swatch, there had to be over a dozen dead ticks in its folds!

Take bug precautions, folks! And hopefully the Deer Flies and Black Flies will be diminished by then.

Permethrin works great. I'm spraying my hunting clothes today, ticks don't last long when the touch it. Turkey season starts Monday, so I will be needed. Wet permethrin and cats don't get along so well though. If you have one keep them away from it.

====> Picaridin may work better if there are cats involved.

Looking forward to meeting everyone. Nighthauk I know but don't hold that against me. We're going to be at this location this weekend on some scouting stuff so I may pick out a hanging spot. I see one dog is coming. We have a Yellow Lab and she would be in the pond all the time. Where do you find Permethrin is it over the counter or black market only?

Love to have ya! Permethrin is OTC, sold at REI, EMS, and others. I think we will have a few dogs there, even not counting Fredd and me!

Thanks I'll have to check out EMS when I get by there. Was out on a hike last weekend and we pulled 6 ticks of the dog. Thought this winter might zap a few.

Nope. It's been a bad month already. Pulled six ticks off the Aussie and two of the Mighty Mutt. I'd bring the Aussie but he's not fully trained yet. The Mighty Mutt would do better, but like my son, my wife won't let him attend Hangs, Hikes or other Trips involving the great outdoors. I think it all has to do with the Bob White he flushed and took down mid flight
