Hex Fly guy lines

Hi guys I have been hanging around since December checking out all the great information and advice on this forum. I have just upgraded from the stock HH tarp to a Hex Fly and I am curious if anyone has had any problems with the standard guy lines as they seem very light. I don't want to change unnecessarily as I like the light weight and I have installed some tarp tensioners. I just don't want to be up in the middle of the night on my first outdoor hang re rigging everything.

Weaker guy lines are not a bad thing, IMHO. Of course you want them to be strong enough to handle adverse conditions like storms and high winds, but I would rather have my guy line snap than my tarp to rip.

Works well, i don't trip over it.

I made some tarp tensioners out of shock cord per a thread here (search for tarp tensioners), which I attach to the tarp. Then I tie this line to the shock cord tarp tensioner and run the cord to a small figure 9 which I have permanently attached to the line on my MSR Groundhog stake.

Easily adjustable, plus the inline tensioner, plus I can see it at night!

Thanks for that I like the idea of the easy see guy line and i looked up the stakes they look strong and light pity they only ship to US addresses.

what I found with the Hex fly was that the rings for the guys are on the hem tape of the fly. This hem tape started to come away from the fly after a night of high winds. I have modded it and stiched webbing loops to all 4 courners and 3 along the ridge line like the Army bashas. this is a lot stronger than before.

But I have replaced the stock aysym fly with a camo diamond one from mosquito hammcks bigger and still rolls up into the snake skins.

I found this interesting way to guy out a tarp . . . may make for an interesting mod to my own HH hex fly I use a a general purpose tarp. Would need to install grommets or tie-outs on said tarp, tho.

Does HH have an official way to tie in this tarp. I didn't see it on their site.

I think the HH stock lines are plenty strong enough, but they're limp, will tangle, and are too small for clumsy fingers. The bright orange line that Ed Speer sells is stiff, strong, as tangle-free as any line can be, and very easy to see. I like it.
