    Ready to hang

I just purchased my first hammock (Hennessy Hammock Explorer Deluxe Asym Zip)...I have a chepo Coleman sleeping pad and a 20 degree sleeping bag. Any adivce for what my next gear should be? I plan to take a few trips to Boundary Waters/Superior Hiking Trail/Porkies or any Midwestern adventure. What should my next purchase be and can I expect to stay warm with my current setup into the high 30s/low 40s?

Forgot to mention I am a Wisconsin transplant in Minneapolis and always open to any new trip/adventure ideas.

Welcome, sounds like you have a good start, a tarp would be next i would think.
There is a group hang comming up the 20th, if you are interested, it is at the rum river state forest.

It(I) might not be the prettiest thing, however It(I'm) is quite functional.

I think you could be warm in the mid 30s or so. Depending on the age and condition of the sleeping bag. Down or synthetic.......

This questions gets asked quite a bit... It seems like the group splits three ways...
Wrap a rope around a tree and hang your pack there...
Clip it onto the suspension of your hammock somewhere...
Or lay it on the ground below your hammock, usually laying on top of a big trash bag or something so its not too dirty...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

    Hey Staffy6,

Welcome, and let us know how it goes for you!

A glance at your set-up tells me that your sleeping pad is your lowest quality item.... Now, that doesnt mean that it wont work perfectly fine for you.... I like my el-cheap-o pad a lot. But you did ask the question about what your next gear could be, and if bothers your sleep or positioning .... well, consider your options in that regard

    Happy Hanging !!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try it out in the backyard this weekend and see how it goes and what I may need next.
