    Which underquilt should i get

Thanks to everyone for the help with my original post. My next issue that i have is which one should i get. I am at a crossroads with which temp rating i should get the 40 or 20 degree. I will mainly be using it for 2 seasons spring and fall. I will not use anything in the summer months. Is 20 degrees to hot for spring. I don't want to be sweating if it is 45-50 degrees at night. I am also up in the air between Outdoor Equipment Full Length Zepplin UQ and Hammock Gears Incubator. Thanks for help.

On my second Hammock Gear UQ. Just received the 20* phoenix and love it. They are great to work with and the quality is impeccable. Not that Slo and I are partial living in Ohio or anything

You can get away with having more insulation underneath in warmer weather. It's easy to vent a UQ. If you can only afford one quilt, and are not concerned with having the lightest weight quilt for the conditions, then buy the warmest quilt for what you expect to encounter.

If it's a warm night, regulate your temp with the TQ. In the summer I start off with my TQ still in the stuff sac, after midnight as it cools off I'll pull it out and lay beside it. Towards dawn I'll get under it during the coolest part of the night.

I only have a 20* UQ that I use year round. Sometimes in summer I will switch to a DIY IX for the weight savings.

Get a cold UQ. Heat moves up, you can loosen it...no matter, it'll work. Get a 0d if you want. You won't be too hot if the TQ is right. For different temps at night, you need a warm weather one and a cold weather one.

Another vote for 20* here. Gives you much more flexible for only a small penalty.

    Split the Difference

Just to throw another idea out there.

You could get a 30 degree underquilt that is offered by LeighLo at hammockquilts.com.

They offer them in 66" and 48" lengths. So you'd have to decide if you want a partial or full underquilt.

In reality all of the quilt makers on the site offer top notch products, so you can't really make a wrong choice.

    Cheers

    Brian
