Hey rcam1977, my only bit of beta on using the pad in the hammock is that I was not able to lay quite as flat as I could without the pad. What I mean by that is that the pad prevented me from laying across the hammock on an angle. anyway, just something to think about. Good luck with your first hang, hope the weather smiles on you!

Thanks for that trip report. Good for you! I recently read Edward Abby's "Desert Solitude" which I mostly enjoyed a lot. From the description in the book it sounds like he camped very close to where you did. It makes me want to visit that place even more....
