    Video: Easter 2013 Hike

After working hard to meet my goals for school and finishing the actual teaching portion of my student teaching, Kyle (Firefoot) and I head back on the Foothills Trail where we left off last fall trying to make a 25 mile day. When things don't happen like we planned, we decide to continue stress free and focus on having fun. Meeting up with some family and friends on day two, we prepare to celebrate Easter out in creation.

Highlights from this trip include my best night's sleep in a gathered end hammock to date, finding abandoned packs on the trail and even though we were warned that they were out there and asked to gather information about their location we were still kind of creeped-out, Firefoot's fiance's first night in the woods (of course she was in a hammock), a great sunrise service Easter morning, and a lesson for those who choose to bivy in an all night deluge...

    I hope you enjoy.

Beautiful trip, FIMB. I can't think of a better way to spend Easter than with loved ones in the great outdoors.

You truly do live in a gorgeous area of the country. I envy you, for certain.

Glad those mitts worked out well for you. Did you have any trouble with the DIY pack picking up water weight from the rain?

Sorry to hear about your brother's misfortune with his gear. Still, a learning experience is always good when you have a place to bail to.

    Thanks for taking us along!

    I do live in a gorgeous area don't I?
The DIY pack didn't really pick up any water that I could tell. I'm sure it did as it got wet, but the Sil helped some as did the movement as I kept shaking it by walking. I noticed that it was dry inside and out by the time I got to my car. It didn't even soak up my back sweat.

Well, it is a US Army issued bivy. He had used it on a drill weekend with the Guard before, but never in prolonged rain like that night. Next time he's in the bivy, he'll stay under my tarp beneath my hammock.

Great trip! Did you ever find out about the gear that was left behind?

    Guys,

Great video! Enjoyed the different camera angles as well as the background music choice. Sitting in the office busy but was telliported away from the druggery for awhile. Thanks for the break from work.
