    The Hammock Seat

I saw this link on another board this morning and thought that it was fiendishly simple and could be a great addition to a camp.

I have no connection to this product other than interest.

Other than the 1# 11 oz. thing.. I like it.. Some threads here about mods I believe..
I bought the bushman from Arrowhead Equipment.. Much lighter, I like it mucho bigtime..
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

I thought that it could be DIYed pretty easily. To save weight, I thought that the pole portion could be left off and replaced with a branch cut to length once you get to where you are camping. Just sew a pocket on the seat to capture the end of the branch.

Hmmmm.... methinks this would work well with an adjustable length trekking pole.....

I agree SE, this looks like a pretty easy DIY project. Should only weigh 4 or 5 ounces if you use something else for the support pole.

Very interesting item. I'm usually in places where its wooded enough, a hammock/gear chair works pretty well, except around the fire ring. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

I really liked the look of this until I saw the price $55 plus $8 S/H seems pretty outrageous to me for something as simple as this. I think I will try a DIY with using a trekking pole as was mentioned.

I really hate to see people cutting off trees, bushes or other flora, I firmly beleive in "LEAVE NO TRACE".

    Just my own thinking.

I sometimes go camping where I took my children back in the 60's, those places are ruined by humans not being respectful of the land. One person cuts or moves a little something, then another persons feels free to do the same thing. After a while it all builds up. People that come on to my property do not cut off, dig or move the things found on my land, they leave it alone, for others to enjoy.
