I'm new to hammocking myself. I've not had this set up long but I've been out a few times. It's been below freezing overnight every time I've gone and that's how this se-tup came about but I'm planning on travelling in the summertime, so I'll probably be a sweaty mess!

For those of you wondering why I went for such a massive tarp; it's not just to protect me from the weather:

I very nice set up I will have to add some of this to my set up thank you )

As for midges, yes I still remember a bunch of Scottish lads doubled over in fits as this here English men legging it up the glen pursued by a cloud of midges (more like mini dragons).

Love this post , really helpful, I am just starting out getting my stuff together, so this has help me a lot, can I ask how you attached the line on the inside of your hammock, ? Mine is a dd travel and only put it up once but can't remember if there was a sewn in loop in the bug net, and do you leave it in the hammock and does it sag much,
    Thanks

There are loops on the inside of the bug net, so I just tied the line between those and leave it in permanently. It look me a few hangs to get it to a point where it didn't sag too much, so maybe make one end easy to undo until you're happy with it.

Because the line used those inner loops, I used the excess line to create new loops, rather than cutting it off. These are handy for hanging things that are too heavy to hang on the line itself.
