My cousin is has been part of a team working on this purifier for quite some time now. He forwarded my this link

I hope that they are able to start producing them, because I'd love to get one in my kit.

Looks interesting, also that the inventor of the MSR MIOX is the inventor with this one. Although for me I think I will wait this one out and see where it goes, the same claims were made with the MSR one and it took a bit to figure it out that it was over priced and not as effective as once believed.

Good luck to them though, it holds promise and would be awesome if it worked as they hope/claim.

Interesting idea.

However, it requires batteries, salt, time to process the salt to make the disinfectant solution and still requires 30 minutes to treat 1L of water. How is better than using any available chemical treatment or just boiling the water?

His idea is noble in order to provide this at a price point that people in 3rd world countries can get them. I recall that solar disinfection (SODIS) is being used in many such places with good success.

Well I think it's a great idea! Can't say I've seen this before, and I'm not familir with the old MIOX system, but I'd say this has potential! It looks to be well thought-out, but I still wonder if you'd need (or at least prefer) some way to filter particulates from certain water sources . . .
