Video: Underquilts on the Cheap - Can it be Done?

Well I got myself a new camera so I thought I''d try it out. There's been some renewed interest in the KAQ so here is a look at making a rectangular quilt and a KAQ on the cheap as well as a discussion about what you sacrifice in doing that. Enjoy and let me know what you think.

I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    Hi
Looks like it's not available yet, I cannot wait though as I am part way through my KAQ.

    Good stuff, well done.
Can you go into some detail about the bungee running the length of the KAQ please?
I wondered how those long sides would stay up

Not sure what detail you are looking for. I got a partial roll of bungee cord on the cheap at a surplus place, I think it is 1/4" and ran it through the channel with a tension adjustment mechanism. In this case I have it run through a couple of eyelets and the tension is set by a figure eight knot . Crude but functional.
If you are using up to date materials the 1/4" cord may be overkill. I found that I needed to overcome about 3 lbs of weight in the quilt and the thin stuff just didn't cut it. So I got some big stuff (cheap) and used that. There are probably other options as well.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

    Hi and thanks
I went back and re read all of the plans yet again and it seems I missed the bit about the channels for the bungee.
    It all makes sense now

Awesome, and just in time too! I'm in considerations on building an underquilt and I was considering different designs for some time now. This vid has me thinking about some aspects I hadn't even considered yet...
