I think that is a gene in Grandmothers, my mom was ok with me going off into the woods but the mention of her grand daughter heading out to the woods flips the caution switch in her

Give it a try..just wack him when he tells you the tall tales!!
Thanks Animalcontrol, Ill be getting my BB before we head out again so she will have the Claytor JH.
the good thing about it just being me and her is that she can use the gear I have to hand me down (that fits her) and the fact Im a gear head and dont mind buying her stuff.
She still wont wear my old carhearts to school, I figured it would save money and keep the Boys at bay

Yep Yep. Grandmother loves me more, I've tried and tried to tell you Dad. and plus, you've had WAY more experience than I have in the hiking field, and you know how klutzy i can get

and yes, thanks to Animalcontrol for the offer, but I have successfully stolen Dad's Claytor JH. Lucky me

    -sigh-

It's really nice to spend that one-on-one time with no cell phone, computer or TV distractions.
What you get is "memories". Can never take those away. Packing with my 12 year old son brings new life to hiking. Glad you guys had fun.

    Thanks Ashman

Yea, I've come to find that I really love the whole hiking thing a lot.
Kinda gives you the time to get away from the hassle of the 'real world' and think about stuff without so much outside influence.
And spending time with my dad is the best. Keeps us away from just sitting around the house watching movies and surfing the internet all day, and keeps us active. I really like that we can spend all day together and not get on each others nerves. Seems like most of my friends keep saying that they'd rather spend time anywhere besides with their parents. Kinda sad really.

    Anyways!
    Thanks for the welcome
