Resting in my hammock chair above the April snow

I led a group on a hike to a summit in Allegany State Park yesterday, April 6. Plenty of snow above 2100 feet still. While they rested on a wet downed tree, I took a nap in my hammock chair:

Two of the women on the hike tried it. I made two of them out of a walmart blue hammock, but no one wanted to take the second one when we started the hike. I suspect on the next hike two or three people will be asking for the extra one.

I love this idea for day hikes. What a great way to relax mid day. Did you just make a shortie hammock? Having not made a hammock before I figure this could be a fairly simple project to start on. Thanks.

I bought a Walmart hammock for $25, then had a local tailor cut it in half and sew channels in the cut half. Then I added whoopie slings for the suspension, with carabiners and tree straps, giving me two hammock chairs.

Packs half the size of my homemade hiking hammock, and about 2/3rds of the weight.
