Slap Strap Pros for a Hennessy?

I was looking at Slap Strap Pros, and I didnt see anything about them being compatable with the HH. Is this ok, and Is it worth buying for the long run?

Yes, you can use the slap straps with a HH, but before doing so you might want to take the time to read through this thread: http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=565

A lot of the DIY enthusiasts here have moved to the handy ring buckle type setup shown in that thread. They're light, easy to setup and takedown, and are relatively cheap.

I've never used Slap Straps but I have seen them and I don't think that would be the best option for a HH. You would be better off using tree huggers or changing the HH spectra line to webbing.

    Welcome to the forum, guys.

Yes, you can use Slap Straps with the HH but it will take some modification. Good advice above...there are a few threads about Slap Straps and other webbing systems on HHs. Start there, then search the archives.

Yea I love my ring/buckle set-up on my 3 hammocks. I read on Whiteblaze that Scottie bought a Hennessy Expedition. I've had a couple in the past. I was wondering how one would go abought rigging the ring/buckle system to this particular hammock? All the other talk I have read has been with the much smaller Spectra rope when converting a Hennessy. Would he need to take off the whole "Monster" rope that comes with the Expedition and replace it with Spectra rope or the stuff Jeff uses? I would assume the stock Expediton rope would be to big for the 2 rings to work properly.

Hrm...good question. I'd guess that the rope would be too big to hold the rings together tightly enough to create enough friction, but it would be worth testing first.

You could always tie a smaller piece of Spectra to the big rope if it doesn't work.

I did exactly that. I use a ring buckle+webbing setup with my HH Explorer, and I tied a short piece of Spectra to the heavy rope, and just use the rings on the lighter Spectra. It never even occured to me to try placing the rings directly on the support rope. *shrug* It works for me. I'd post some pictures of the setup, but I don't have them handy right now.

I believe that the Expedition Rope would be to big for the rings to work. That is an ingeneous idea, and wouldnt take me long to make. Are they very sturdy, because they dont look like it? Could you guys tell me where to get the supplies? Also, will that strap work with the snake skins?
When people say camping is for sissys, what does that make them....?

Sturdy? Depends on the webbing that you use. As was mentioned in the thread I linked above, I used polyester webbing from here. It has a breaking strength of 3500lbs.

The rings that you use for buckles should also be very strong. Again, I used a recommendation from the linked thread. Rings

You should be able to find the rings and carabiners at your local REI or online:
    www.rei.com/product/471123
They also have the Camp USA carabiners.
Did'nt see them online at REI. You can try here:

I'd get your webbing from Speer Hammocks:
    www.speerhammocks.com/Products/PRODUCTLINK2.htm
Straps work fine when used with snakeskins.
