Just wanted to through Byer of Maine hammocks into the mix for you to consider. Here is a review done by Backpacker Magazine. They seemed to like the Easy Traveller. Let me know what you think. You will also find a Traveller Lite, Double Traveller, and Moskito in the line, and they too are all really fairly priced.

    Hoosier Hang

There is a large group going to the Deam Wilderness (Lake Monroe area) for the Hoosier Hang this weekend.
You will see all sorts of rigs there and the people are great.
If you can get down there, I highly recommend checking it out. Should only be an hour drive for you.

    Check out: Forums-Hangouts-Midwest-Hoosier Hang

They will be off the Sycamore Trail in the Deam Wilderness.
    Good Luck and happy hanging.

depending on weight and size i highly recommend the Weight Weenie Micro at Butt in a Sling sells... its top notch, light weight and affordable... you can be under a lb with suspension and bugnet and under 20 oz with tree straps and toggles... one of the lightest and comfiest on the market...

    What should I buy?

Which Blackbird do you recommend? There are like 10 "Blackbird" options.

Depends on how much you weigh... That determines minimum fabric weight... And double later or single layer is decided by your need or lack of need of a pad... Most people end up using underquilts but there are a few who swear by and only use pads...
