Took my son out for a quick overnighter on Friday. We've slept plenty of nights in the backyard, but just haven't been able to get out at all this past year. The weather is finally warm enough, so we made a break for it! Titus is 8, so it was just a quick 2 mile in, 2 mile out hike. Light rain while hiking, and a DOWN POUR while sleeping. He loved every minute of it. Thankful for synthetic clothing!
He has a HH Cub, which is perfect for him. I brought the stock tarp, but quickly realized that wasn't going to keep him dry at all. Luckily I brought an extra 10x10 that I swapped it out for. I still have this looming feeling that it would have been a miserable night for him without it. Hooray for overpacking!

It was a soggy take down of camp, but it's Oregon, so we're used to that. Temp at night was 40F. We both stayed warm, him with a ccf pad and 20F bag, me with a 20F incubator and 25F bag.
We saw 22 rough skinned newts, and zero humans.

It was an awkward spot to hang, but we wanted to be close to the waterfall and to each other. You can see that the 10x10 was really saggy, but, he stayed dry!
Now I'm on the hunt for a good tarp for him.
