Double pole mod on Superfly (or similar)?

I want to get an internal pole mod done on my Superfly, but I am still trying to choose between single and double pole.

Would a double pole put undue stress (inconvenient or otherwise) on the tarp? Will I need 1/8" amsteel to tie the tarp down against the force of the poles?

I have not found any pictures of a double pole mod on a Superfly or similar size tarp. Are there any available?

    Tendertoe Superfly Mod

Tendertoe did exactly that in this video. He also shows you how and what size of everything you need and how much. I've copied this exact same mod and it's amazing. Hands down my favorite all-around all-weather tarp system. Going to mod my trekking poles for my bridge hammock now that I don't need them for my tarp at all.

ZQ here...We have put double pole pockets on several tarps. I don't know about the force of the polls on the tarp...I don't think there is an issue with that, but 2Q can respond to that if needed. If you have any questions specific to us...please contact us through a PM. Thanks!

Like Slo mentioned, using the methods outlined in this thread, you can extremely easily and cheaply (for the mod itself. For a DIY or cottage manufacturer mod, the poles are the bulk of the cost) either a double or single pole mod for any tarp.

I have seen ZQ's work as well and it's top notch.

You can't go wrong either way.

Just talked to 2Q....he said there shouldn't be any issue with pole pressure on the tarp as long as your use not too rigid poles. Use something like Nanolites .344 diameter at www.questoutfitters.com . ZQ

those .344 poles are what I used as well and I cut them, per TT's video, 4 inches shorter than they came to reduce the pressure on the tarp. I think it takes you from 124" to 120" and fits like a glove.

I think the poles including shipping cost 45.00. I used mason line for girth hitches instead of the webbing/grommet tabs (because my grommets were too big, could've saved the cash if I'd have thought about it a bit before) and that saves another 15.00 or so.

+1 on 2QZQ's work as well, top notch and Questoutfitters is amazing to deal with as well. Probably the quickest most efficient company I've dealt with to date.

Yes, the poles need to be cut to fit the tarp...we send instructions for help getting the proper pole length. ZQ

Double pole mod on Superfly (or similar)?

I think I will go with a single pole. I have looked at photos and video and the space gained by a second pole does not weigh up against the extra volume of a second pole for this motorcycle camper.

ZQ, when I am finished with my camping weekend 2 weeks from now you will have a Superfly incoming.

I think that'll be perfect for a gathered end. 2 pole was to accommodate the Ridgerunner spreader bars. Gonna LOVE your 2QZQ pole mod, I'm tellin you the quality is top notch. Hope to see some pics of it complete
