I'm no stake expert, but MSR groundhogs seem like they're good for everything but snow and rock. They might even work then but there are better things for those.

If I know the ground conditions where I'm camping I'll take the lightest set of stakes possible. Otherwise I take a couple groundhogs, a few Ti, and some short stakes too - trying to cover all bases. Fortunately i can usually use sticks if needbe.

MSR Groundhogs are what I take.

I use the Groundhog type but the Sierra Designs brand (same thing, blue color, less $$$). But they can still easily pull out in soft dirt. These are still the only kind I take, but if they're not cutting it, I just get a longer stick about 10" and drive that into the ground.
I found a set of 8 with no branding on them for $15 for 9", $13 for 7" on amazon prime.
Walmart sells a Groundhog knockoff 9" long in the Coghlan's brand that are 4 for $3.00 around here. Kinda soft aluminum, but the price is right. They have worked well for me in soft soils.
There are groundhog-type stakes for sale in the Hammock Forums Store.

Yeah, plus one on the Hammock Forums groundhog style stakes. They're the ones I use all the time. Colour is easy to spot. They hold well in a variety of soils. Not perfect, but allround performers for their weight.
