    lightest suspension, fewest parts ??

Im getting blown away with the many suspension options, after watching shugs video and browsing the forums. What I am wondering and looking for is the simplest lightest option. I use an eno single nest and I want to make it as light as possible. Ideally I would like to remove the caribeeners and rope at the end of the hammock and tie it off in some way (dont know how), and replace it with a one strap system on both sides for the purpose of saving weight. I feel comfortable without a ridgeline and dont use one at the time.

What/how can I achieve this goal? Is it possible to just have webbing straps about 15 feet long that I can attach straight to the hammock? Is there a tutorial on these things? What is a good size webbing? Really just looking for the bare minimum, lightest weight suspension. Thanks

    simplest lightest option
simplest is not always the lightest

and lightest is not always simplest

probably whoopies and toggles are the lightest but there is a fiddle factor

I like Dutch Clips and Cinch Buckle, not the lightest but very simple.

You can replace the rope that came with ENO and replace with Amsteel.

Re: lightest suspension, fewest parts ??

My suggestion for lightest weight is UCRs... Search around there are tutorials on how to make them... I am currently hanging on a set of amsteel UCRs and they weigh 1/2 what whoopies weigh out of the same material... Because it is half the material... But a set of UCRs out od dynaglide weighs half of amsteel UCRs just because yet again dynaglide weighs roughly half what amsteel does...

And straps are all pretty much the same weight 1" wide poly straps are 1" poly straps... Stay away from nylon... Most people find 5-10' of strap works well, depending on area, tree size and tree distance...
Live, Laugh, Love, if that doesn't work. Load, Aim and Fire, repeat as necessary...

I don't know about lightest but for simple I like the All-in-One system at whoopieslings.com the straps and whoopies are all attached. So, there is no forgetti g straps or tyeing a spike hitch, no toggles to drop or loose. I have them on all my hammocks.

Also you wanna think about what yer gonna do for rain. Smc rings help with that and they are very light , but they require a loop through the channel end.

I have an ENO hammock and will be tossing the stock rigging as soon as I can. The setup was so heavy and to try and get a good hang was next to impossible with standard straps.

The setup I'm looking at is replacing the original rope with armsteel, but leave a 10ft length of rope at the ends.
For the tree, standard straps with a loop at one end, and 2 D-rings in the other. Wrap the strap around the tree and stick the d-ring end through the loop. Take your armsteel rope from the hammock end, wrap it through the d-rings three times, with rope going between the two d-rings on the third pass.
Rinse and repeat on the other end of the hammock. Easy to tighten, and no funky knots to deal with in the morning.
