Most of the time (but not always) I can control my enthusiasm when a new great product hits the streets, and usually I can buy it at a better price later.
One of the standard strategies in marketing is to "skim the market", setting up a high initial price for a product, and offering it to individuals who are not price-sensitive. Later on, when the pool of early adopters is exhausted, the company lowers the price.
