    Greetings from Northern Illinois.

Hello there. Thought I'd pop in for a while and look around. Nice place you have here!

My son recently made to move from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. We will both be going to Summer camp this year and when I thought about spending a week on the ground, I decided to break down and look for a cot. Well, it just so happens that REI groups their cots and hammocks together and, well, I got sidetracked...

I was a Scout myself, (and did spend a few nights in my old, string hammock when I was at camp as a kid) though I've always been more of a car camper and never really made to move to backpacking without big cookware and the like.

So, now I'm looking around and thinking I will probably try to pick up a Hennessy or WBBB. I asked one of the other leaders if I would be able to hang at camp this Summer and she asked about getting wet and where would I put my gear, etc... CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

Welcome! Fairly new here myself. I've got a hennessy expedition zip model with a hex rain fly. Nice little set up for me.

    Welcome!!

It's easy to get the hanging bug, & nearly impossible to not kick yourself for trying it sooner. But then you gotz the bug early on, and just needed the slightest prodding to resume. lol

If i had to guess, i'd say that you'll have a lot of scouts VERY interested in your rigging, & details. You'll have a small crowd.

Consider this: If you wanna look like a pro wiff your new rig (whatever that maybe) & you wanna sleep well your first campout wiff the troop; head to a local park (several times, using different trees each time) and practice-practice-practice. You'll think you got it right the first time, but if you do you're better than me, or it'll prolly be more luck than anything else. Anyway; Bring a book... and if your first attempts are anything like mine .... after you have it pegged you be nodding off before you can read more than a couple pages.... happy napping

Welcome! I'm in Algonquin too. While I'm no expert I do have a Henessy if you'd like to try it.

Thanks for the welcomes. I just scored a DangerBird from the classifieds.
I'll be hanging in time for the first campout at the end of the month.

77Hoss, we should meet and compare notes once mine shows up.

I better finish the bathroom I'm working on before I build a stand...
