    Cheap starter Hammock

Maybe this is old news, but I just picked this new hammock up because I was curious. This makes 5 hammocks for me but I bet it would work as a good starter. It is a channel hammock with a nice stuff sack. I have'n't weighed it yet but I would be surprised if it weighs more than 6 - 8 oz. I slept in it a couple nights and it works great. I just added some modifications to it (added whoopie slings and a ridge line) and it is a really nice little hang for the price, only $22.95!!

I whole-heartedly endorse this hammock. They're also available for about $20 at Academy Sports.

I added Whoopie's and it's SUPER lightweight now. This cheapie is more comfortable than ENO's to me, believe it or not. By far my favorite budget hammock so far.

Whoopies are adjustable ropes that many use to attach the hammock to the straps that go around the trees. They are made using amsteel (a certain type of hollow core rope) that can be spliced together.

Many choose them because they're lighter than other options and very easy to adjust in most situations.

Nice picture of it in a larger setup here:

Kmart also carries the Hobo Hammock which is only rated for 200#, so if picking one up be sure to get the right one!
