    Enlightened Equipment ProdigyX

My son and I received our 20° ProdigyX quilts a few days ago. I'm quite impressed with the detailing and quick service. I just thought I'd throw this post up in case anyone had questions or does a search in the future.

Looking to get a ProdigyX myself, but I can't decide if the 30° will be warm enough.

    Enlightened Equipment ProdigyX

We normally camp right at 30° in the spring and fall and decided the small amount of weight and volume of the 20° quilt was worth the extra insurance. Time will tell...

Have you had a chance to use the Prodigy quilts yet?
How did the 20* version work?
Would you recommend getting a warmer bag or are the ratings pretty accurate?

    Enlightened Equipment ProdigyX

We've spent about 15 nights in our quilts and are totally satisfied. I've had cold butt/feet at 30° but I'm on a Hennessy double bubble pad rated for 40°.

If I had it to do over again I'd probably still get the ProdigyX for boy and would have stepped up to the RevelationX or a Sierra Sniveler for myself because I take good care of my equipment and I'm not worried about keeping it dry. I'd appreciate the slightly lower weight and more compact size that down provides.

    I went with a short/wide cut. I'm glad I did wide because I turn over a lot.

Boy is 1000% happy with his quilt and is totally warm on the bubble pad. I guess he's a warm sleeper.

I've spent some nights on the ground with it too. I'm totally sold on top quilts for ground sleeping. No loss of warmth and it's great to not have the bag bunched up underneath you. I've slept on just the bubble pad and a Thermarest foam pad. Both worked great.

    Awesome...thank you.
I will probably spend more nights on the ground, so this is good to hear.

I live in the Seattle area, so as much as I want down I am going to synthetic due to the rain. I ordered up a regular/wide 30 ProdigyX....I hope it turns out great.

    Thanks again for your help.

Regarding sleeping pads...was the Thermarest foam pad by itself good enough?
Unfortunately that is the only pad I have for ground and hammock sleeping (to slide inside the double layer hammock).

I've never used a Thermarest in a hammock, only on the ground. It's fine there.
