Flat Mountain Pond

First hang in the woods last weekend with a great friend. We started driving north in NH and ended up in the Sandwich Range just east of Waterville. There was still 3-ish feet of snow at elevation and we only post holed the last mile or so.....

The shelter kept the tarps in the pack, but we both got to try the rest of our hammock specific gear. We both learned a ton from this gear shakedown trip and I can say that hanging in the woods is a ton of fun.

Game on!!!

Can't seem to post pics from my iPad, but they are cool... Just saying. Lol!!

Oh, I am really jealous! I haven't been to my 2nd home in New Hampshire since February and it's about to hit 90 here in South Florida with 101% humidity

I learned that down rules!!! I have always backpacked with synthetic insulated sleep gear, but my yeti and the rental 0 degree bag have me in love. I got a sweet deal on a winter yeti on Craigslist and decided to rent a winter bag before my wife divorced me for my recent spending

I also need to re-work my stove with smaller jets. This thing is a booze pig in the woods, but for some reason sipped in my kitchen during testing. Maybe ill break down and hit up one of the cottage guys for some of there goods. It is cool that this community has such great craftsmen and women. I also enjoy the DIY part of this hobby as well.

This was by far my lightest pack on an overnight trip (although I didn't weigh it) I have to say I didn't miss anything, ate well, and still didn't take some thing out of my pack. I know I can go lighter and go further because of it.

Great stuff - that is what its about - getting out, having a good time, and looking forward to the next trip. Last time I came back & weighed the crap I could have left at home & came up with 4 lbs. Just keep at it & you'll get it dialed in.
