Tarp with doors.

Just like the title says. I have been shopping around for a tarp with doors and I think I have decided to go with the WB Superfly but was wondering if there were other options out there. I know the Equinox from Campmor is one but it is a tad on the heavy side. I also don't want to spend too much ie a cuben tarp.

Old Man Winter Tarp from Wilderness Logics.

Underground Quilts has a winter tarp.

2QZQ make "beaks" which act like doors you can add to any hex tarp.

I've used OMW and Superfly, both are rock and roll but I have yet to put my Superfly through the paces I put my Old Man Winter tarp, but I can say the OMW has taken winds and snow with ease. Especially with a pole mod.

I've got the HG Winter Palace, which has approximately the same measurements as a Superfly. I'm a big fan of tarps with doors. You'll see a lot of discussion on this forum about site selection, as if you can predict the wind direction for the evening, while you're setting up during the day.

Tarp with doors minimizes concerns about wind direction - gives me peace of mind.

Bwess, if you sewed some tie-outs closer to the corners (measure out a good bottom length for your door and put it there) you can get a tighter pitch and tighter doors.

If you don't want to pay for cuben, the Superfly is tough to beat (with the OMW in a close second). Great combo of weight, coverage, quality and price. The Superfly is my pick for best overall value for any hammock tarp available.

I have cuben now,,but before that was a Old Man Winter,,and that tarp will handle anything you throw at it.

George it's not the same tarp. This my first tarp and is 2 feet longer costing $16 to make.
I am definitely going to add tab to it.
I also look up the doors and have a better understanding of them. Might add them to a setup.

I didn't realize they were different.

Doors are worth their weight, easily. Like Trekking poles, headlamps and reflectix, doors on my tarp are hard to live without once you start living WITH them.

I have a HH Hex tarp, and had 2QZQ add doors to it.

I've only used them a few times, but the knowledge that they're there is worth the weight on my back. Bring on the wind and rain...I'm a'ready fer it!
