I just got back from a four day, three night hiking trip in the Smokys. It was my first real trip using the hammock. It was great! I had tested my setup at home so I was ready to go with adequate insulation and I knew how to set the hammock and tarp up.

The thing I have no idea of how to deal with is the smoke smell. I tried to stay well away from the camp fire but in some camps sites there were multiple fires and my rig got inundated with campfire smoke.

I have the gear hanging on the back porch trying to air it our but I was wondering if there are any "home remedies" that might help? I like to keep my gear in preteen shape so it will last.

The hammock is a Warbonnet Blackbird and the tarp is a Mamajamba. Any advice you can provide will be gratefully accepted.

I survived the climb!
