    Breathing Problems

I seem to be having a major problem with breathing around wood smoke. I have a some heart issues and some allergies. My heart function is pretty poor, about 15% Ejection Fraction. I guess that with the allergies is about to bring me down. I love camping, being outdoors, I heat my home in Canada with wood furnaces, plus a fire place or stove in each room.

I really do not know what I am going to do. Are there any members that wear masks while camping? I have used my Buff, but it does not filter out the particles in the smoke enough. I looked at a couple of web sites that sell masks for the allergy folks, but I have no idea what would really work for me.

Does anyone have practical suggestions for me????

Are you ok around a wood furnace but not open fires ??, if so maybe Hot Camp with a wood stove rather than open fire. Otherwise i'd see a herbalist and or doc

    good luck

Look into a mask that says its rated for that type of thing and try it out, whatever gets you outdoor. Thats what I would do anyway

Here is a link from an allergy company online, I called them and asked them what would be the best for your case and this is the one they suggested...

    Hope that helps you out!!

Maybe switch to a stove that doesn't use wood and don't have an open fire.

You don't need one for camping, and you can still enjoy the outdoors.

Portable cpap. If you only have 15%ef I'm sure you have some chf issues. That combine with allergies is prov killing you as far as breathing goes

    Thank you for the suggestions.

Part of the problem is other people build fires around me. We were in a BLM Camp Ground and some creep with children was smoking something that was not wood, I thought I was going to have a full fledged asthma attack. I had to have help getting back to our vehicle. Thank God the air conditioner and distance took care of the problem.

Lately any smoke and I am in trouble. I do have heart failure, I had a Sudden Cardiac Arrest a few years ago, it damaged a lot of the heart muscle. That is why my heart does not function very well. I have a device that keeps the heart beating in sync, plus it delivers shocks when the heart wants to stop.

I stay away from the Doctors as much as possible. The next step is a heart transplant, which I am not going to have.

So for now I want to Hang, I enjoy being outdoors, however I have to fix the breathing problem. I have the CHF under control, mainly by being very careful of my diet and exercise.

Again thank your for the suggestions.

Mountnman, THANK YOU SO MUCH, YOU WENT WAY OUT OF THE WAY FOR ME! I will be making a purchase in a few minutes.
