He must be new to hammocks like we all were at one time.
Rope or mesh hammocks tend to be a an open weave hammock (think fish net). Tend to be heavy and not comfortable for camping.
Camping hammocks tend to be made of fabric like ripstop nylon. Very lightweight.
Never seen a wooden hammock.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !
Yea we mostly use the fabric hammocks with gathered end with a type of cordage suspension. With you apparently being new to hammocks and we all were at one point like gunner said, I would recommend watching SHUGS how to videos on youtube. Very informative and will answer most of you question and save you a lot of frustration;

That's okay. You can learn a lot on the forum and watching videos, but talking to people in person and seeing their hammock setups is the best way to add to what you've learned. We have a bunch of HF members in Britain.Originally Posted by corrinla
