    Hammock types

    which type of hammock do you perfer, the rope hammock or fabric, and wooden hammock?

    He must be new to hammocks like we all were at one time.

    Rope or mesh hammocks tend to be a an open weave hammock (think fish net). Tend to be heavy and not comfortable for camping.

    Camping hammocks tend to be made of fabric like ripstop nylon. Very lightweight.

    Never seen a wooden hammock.
    I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

    Yea we mostly use the fabric hammocks with gathered end with a type of cordage suspension. With you apparently being new to hammocks and we all were at one point like gunner said, I would recommend watching SHUGS how to videos on youtube. Very informative and will answer most of you question and save you a lot of frustration;

    That's okay. You can learn a lot on the forum and watching videos, but talking to people in person and seeing their hammock setups is the best way to add to what you've learned. We have a bunch of HF members in Britain.
