    Edge or something else?

So, I'm looking for a tarp that will work for my son primarily. He has a HH Cub at the moment, and the stock tarp is a joke for Oregon. He's 8, so I want good cover, but he'll only be out with me in "warmer" wet weather, so typically above freezing.

I have a SuperFly and LOVE it, but was thinking the Edge might make a nice summer tarp for me. I'm using a BB, and I'm 6'2". Will the Edge be enough to keep me dry if I get stuck in the rain? I notice it's quiet a bit shorter than the SF and MJ.

We've done side by side, and bunk bed style, but he's done well hanging by himself and I like a little bit of space.

Thoughts? Alternatives? Love Brandon's work, and $85 seems reasonable.

The Edge is about the same as a Cuben tarp, roughly. I find that my HG 4 season while the measurements seem small is plenty of coverage for all but the worst weather, granted mine has doors. But as for the length and width very similar and all I've ever needed extra was an UQ protector. So I'd say the Edge with at least one Grizz Beak and maybe an UQ protector would be enough for most of your outings.

I think the Edge will be plenty big enough for you. Since you are used to the SF it will be an adjustment but it offers more than adequate protection for Summer IMO.

I've used the Edge Tarp with my Blackbird in some heavy rain and stayed dry. If I am expecting rain, I keep your tarp low and make sure I am hanging centered under the tarp. . .there is enough room to hang dry, but not a lot of room for error. I consider the Edge sensible minimal choice.

Love the Edge with my BB. Made up a set of grizz beaks for the more severe weather, don't have to take them when it is nice. I did finally buy a Superfly when I needed to get a second tarp but have NO plans to part with the Edge.

Sounds like your son needs cuben fiber

Another option in this category to consider is the Wilderness Logics Tadpole.
Ridgelline is a little longer , up to 144" (though the body is slightly narrower.

I usually give my SF to my daughter and take the smaller tarp as well.

I would think you are good to go easily enough - just going to take some adjusting on your part to better understand how to use your new gear !

I originally bought a Superfly and I love it. I just recently bought an Edge to use this summer. Of course it's not near as roomy as the SF but it gives plenty of protection for me and my Blackbird. IMHO I don't think you can go wrong following this same path. If it's going to be really rainy and windy, I still may grab my SF but when I know there's a slight to no chance I'd grab the Edge instead. Good luck with your decision.

Have you looked at the tadpole dimensions? I really appreciate the ridge-length difference..
