Trying To Decide On Summer Quilt Set

This weekend I was out camping with my set of 20 degree HG quilts and fried to death even after it got cooler at about 2 or 3 am. For those who are going to say some thing about venting I had the incubator loosened up as much as it could be, and the burrow throw over my ridge line until it got cooler with the foot box open, but still roasted.

My questions from those of that have played around with different summer set ups is for a warm to hot sleeper would you recommend a 40UQ/40TQ or the 40UQ/50TQ set? Pros/cons of each?

    Thanks

I use the WL Summer Series quilts and I think they are perfect.
The cinch cord foot box with snaps make ventilation easy and the sewn through construction makes these quilts great for summer and as a liner for colder winter trips.
There are a few threads on WL SS quilts.

I just started using a WL 3/4 SSUQ and a HG 50* TQ. I was quite comfortable this weekend.

I use my 40 degree UQ and loosen or tighten as needed. Generally, I find that the UQ is the more important in the setup. Use a sheet or light blanket on top and then pull out a TQ if the temps dip in the middle of the night.

With HG, you can really loosen up the end cords to allow more air to pass through. It's sometimes hard to use my 0 degree Incubator in the summer, as it is cold where it's not pressed directly to the hammock and then too hot where it does. The best way to do it is to loosen it up so that you have a pocket of air trapped between the hammock and the UQ, without them actually touching. Kind of like the idea of a wetsuit warming up the pocket of water next to your body.

I've found myself sweltering in the summer, so I bunched up the TQ and put it under my knees; I then draped over the top when I woke up cool in the middle of the night.

I use a HG 40 custom shorty phoenix with a 50 rated burrow that has sewn through baffles and a sew up foot box with a draw string at the end so I can vent my feet. Love this set up. It's my go to in summer time. The only difference is weather or not you want a 40 or a 50 rated TQ. That just depends on the average temps you sleep in during the summer time.
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.

Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
