It would be a sin if I didn't start this out by saying I had the fantastic honor and privilege of meeting fellow forum member samsara and his buddy Scooby while doing an overnight at his forest!! Wow, the conversation we had was great, he gave me plenty food for thought, took a gander at my setup (and he didn't even whistle the Sanford and Son theme song when he was looking at it ) and I could see in his eyes the passion he has for the forest and hammocking. Now if my bird brain can remember all the info he shared with me, I'll be good to go. Thank You Dave I'll be back, even if there is a tornado warning (sorta' inside joke).
The weather there was somewhat typical early summer Florida: muggy at times, breezy at times, sweltering hot at times but that's all part of the experience. Tried out my new Sawyer Squeeze after checking the threads and reading reviews (and if it's good enough for olddog, then it's fine in my book). No problems with it at all, modified it a touch so I can hang it from a branch and use it like those fancy smanchy gravity filters!!
It is a great forest, good trails and scenery. Seen a couple of fish in the creek, a couple of "water birds" fishing in the creek and a gopher tortoise(?) on my hike out. During my chat with samsara, we talked about the Lakeside camp, so I headed over to it and checked it out. Yup, that's next. There was a little water in the creek, which it rained last night so that probably helped. I ended up taking something like 120 pictures but not to blow any servers out of the water, I'll just attach a couple or so. Some of the pics were taken with the phone and some with a regular digital.....
