    Top Quilts and Differential Cut/Baffles

Getting ready to start work on a 30 degree topquilt, 74" long, 55" wide.

Would like to know if this topquilt will benefit from differential baffles.

Also if I make the outside piece of fabric larger (differential cut?) than the inside piece of fabric, should it be both wider and longer, or just wider?

Hey awilder! Use Catsplats calculator to figure everything out for you - https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=53701

A differential cut will follow the curve of your hammock for a better fit.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

No need to do a differentlal cut on a Top Quilt as it just lays over you. It does help prevent compression of down on the under quilt. Easer to do on the under quilt too if you run baffels leingth wise. I did my under quilt with a 10 inch differentiel. Almost no way to compress the down.

That's what I've been wondering. I don't want to make it any harder than necessary.

To figuer the difernentiel cut on the under quilt I put 2 pins in the wall 36 inches apartthen tied a piece of thread between the two makinf a large U Then i put 2 more pins 2.5 inches outside the first two. 2.5 inches was the loft i wanted. I then put another thread in a U shape making sure it was 2,5 inches away from th first thread. Then i measured bothe threads and i had my inside and outside materal size. On my quilt it came out to be a 10 inch diferance. It worked without any math. Have fun.
