I do not need trees.
I sleep in my hammock low with my butt touching the ground so I can fit into my regular 40" high tarp pitch.
I need 2 tie outs at the head and 2 at the foot.
I tie to anything I can at ground level and that includes a sturdy tent peg.
If the peg is driven into frozen ground it doesn't have to be a large peg.
Surplus military angle type aluminum tent pegs will hold in unfrozen soil.

This is my indoor stand and it was the right length for my HH. The rain fly was just a bit long, but I made it work.
Wait, I think I read your question wrong: The stand is one piece, I believe like a Vario stand. It is free standing and quite stable.
The comforter is covering the horizontal beam, in case the setup failed.
