    MI Manistee River Trail 4/26/13

Heading up this weekend to do a scout trip of the area. Then hiking in to the waterfall campsites Saturday night. Hike out Sunday morning and back home to SE MI.

This will be my first time on the trail. I am bringing a few friends with me, meeting some there. Should be a good time.

I haven't been hiking at all for almost a year and am worried about being able to hang for the whole trip!?!

Should have some pics to show off next week when I get back ( I hope).

I'm heading up Friday morning for what will be my fifth time on the NCT-MRT. Going clockwise from Red Bridge and aiming for the pine plantation near Eddington Creek. Saturday I'll work my way to the MRT and head down toward Slagle creek, or if I can find it, the infamous "stealth" spot I've heard about so much on the forums. If you see someone with a green REI pack, that's me. Enjoy your first time on the MRT. It's a great hike! Hope to see you on the trail.

We will heading up the MRT from Red Bridge to the Falls and staying hoepfull somewhere near there. I will have a bunch of grounders with me. Maybe even myself included if my daughter comes with. Look for a group of 6 or more way overweight and outta shape to be on the trail, that will be us! LOL

I'll be on the lookout! If the waterfall site is full, the ones south of it are all pretty nice. That river is really going to be moving too, with all the flooding going on. Looks like the weather should be pretty good too.

Good luck! Hopefully you find it one day.
Its a proven fact that 78.4% of all statstics are made up on the spot.

I've got a pretty good idea where it is after seeing the pictures from that last time the group was there, but GPS coordinates would make me 100 percent sure.

Water levels have been near record levels as of late. Be careful, the Manistee looks deceptively peaceful, it is powerful and cold. Can't wait to get a boat on it.

    MI Manistee River Trail 4/26/13

Not gonna be there this weekend, but 5/3 - 5/6 is a go! My brother and I are headed up from Louisiana & Texas. We'll get a late start on Friday heading North on the NCT from Red bridge. We'll find a backcountry site for he night and continue north to the suspension bridge on Saturday. Hopefully, we'll make it to the waterfall camp site on Saturday and it'll be back to Red Bridge on Sunday. Monday will be the long drive back to Chicago.
