Nicely done. How much room is there inside with the doors closed compared to your mamajamba? Thanks for showing all the pictures too. I need to practice sewing quite a bit more before tackling something this big.
Actually it has more room - I can deploy the hammock side pulls easily and the curve the doors make when closed match the dory boat curve of the hammock. There's 1 ft of room at each end of the hammock with the doors closed off. Getting out with the doors closed is as simple as stepping between the door edges. It's not designed to be tightly closed. It actually looks like a hammock sock from the outside.
Just learn to make a french seam - that's the hardest part in my opinion. The rest is just place curved plastic pole on the material, mark with marker, cut, hem the edge, add tie outs, etc.

Ladies and Gentlemen - the recipient of the hammock and tarp for his AT trip. He leaves next March 2014! I plan on meeting him on the trail next year simply to harass him for 20 miles.
Check out used machines at Goodwill, yard sales, etc. I got mine (Singer 201-2) for less than $20.
Thank you, MAD! I've always been a bit hesitant about making a tarp. I was afraid of it's complexity - cat cuts, angles, curves, big pieces of fabric, etc. Now I've made one, I wonder what kept me from making one to begin with. It's a lot easier than it looks - just needs more space to work with.
