simple whoopie?

[SIZE="4"]Ok... Im kind of new to this and ive been asking alot of questions and want to thank everyone for all your help....... I am getting ready to order my second hammock and would like to have some sort of woopie setup... Im hearing the cons of the whoopie sling setup is limitations for shorter tree distance and not a fast simple setup.. I heard someone say something about dutches inverted whoopie with whoopie hooks. I definatly want to try some kind of whoopie setup Just would like some help on whats best for me. adding a little weight with hardware would be ok if it makes a fast setup. and also where is the best place to buy woopie setups Thank you everyone again this site has helped me so much

Whoopies make setup faster and easier. Not sure who told you that they're slow, but with the right length tree straps you could hang from almost any 2 trees unless they're too close together, hence the reason so many people use them.

This is nothing against Dutch but why not go simple and light.
Whoopies with tree straps and toggles. Easy setup, quick and very light.

I don't understand why people still think whoopies limit how close your trees can be. Stick a continuous loop through the channel or in front of the whipping, and you have a connection point RIGHT next to the hammock that you can stick over the toggle, bypassing the whoopie all-together.

Am I just missing something?

And not that I don't encourage your supporting cottage shops (I've purchased a few sets myself), but I really do recommend you buy the cordage and make them yourself. You'll probably find splicing is actually quite fun, and it's not difficult at all. Reason I recommend you try it yourself, if you think it's something you can do, is that it's probably a good skill to have.

Agree with Injun, whoopies are not slow....they might take me 2-3 seconds longer than a ring or buckle set up...and that's only if I'm not being fiddly with the rings/buckles...can be fiddly with any set up. But they are way faster than a knot or lashing. Less is more to me. I try to not add hardware when I don't really need it. That's my personal presence any way. I do it like Injun said, tree straps with a toggle whoopies over the toggle, done.

I love Dutch's system with inverted whoopies and whoopie hooks. I put it on all my hammocks. Trees too close together? Bypass the whoopies entirely and use just straps and the continuous loops.

When you're talking about a continuous loop, do you mean you spliced it through the end channel, or you have the loop separate and use a lark's head to attach to the hammock? I'm thinking I may want to splice a continuous loop through...

larks head/girth hitch is better than splicing into the channel it self...when you want to wash your hammock and or change the suspension you can easily remove the suspension rathe than it now being built into the hammock.
