hung for the first time in the cellar to work out the bugs,
temp. about 62 degrees , not cold but cool . used my daughters sleeping bag as an underquilt. tied all 4 corners with paracord550 to the ring buckles.(note to self buy an underquilt ASP) also had the paracord to tight couldn't really lay flat and the idea of the sleeping bag as an underquilt suucks delt with cold back syndrome all night. (another note to self GET A SLEEPING PAD JACKASS) . Didn't think i would feel my back would get as cold as i did but hey i stuck with it all night. now i will know for the next time. can't wait to work these bugs out so i can try outside with the speer winter tarp i ordered. just need to get warm first in cellar or i'll just be wasting time. forgot to tell you the type of hammock . its a homemade speer type with a ridge line . p.s. the picture you see to the left is where i slept.

This thermadrape stuff might be worth a look http://www.hammockforums.net/forum/s...ead.php?t=7178
After a pretty similar experience with a sleeping bag underquilt, I made a SPE pad holder which works great. I was a able to get that SB to work as either a pea pod or underquilt but it was a huge synthetic tank from walmart, so onto the pads. Two wally world blue pads, one of which was cut to torso length kept me warm to my low of 28*F.
Next winter I hope to be using a snugfit, and maybe a black bird if im lucky.

Hang and hang again! Yeah Ty ... get pads and make an SPE... that will get your shoulders covered underneath as well. Until you get a UQ then you get to play around more with UQ, pads, no pads, space blankets ... et al!
What else do we grown men do in our cellars....
Glad you posted!
