Try more like 30-35 degrees perhaps. I get the sweetest lay around 35-37 in my 11 foot hammock.

I just got my XLC last week and have been monkeying around with it some this weekend. I don't have a good place to hang it and stake out the shelf and net but have been trying to practice hanging it in one little space I have. I noticed a slight ridge around my knee but not a bad one. I have moved things up and down and in and out trying to find my sweet spot. The best I have done so far is actually a little different than most. I have my feet only slightly higher than my head and find the flattest lie when I slide down from the head end just a little. I also found that putting my Thermarest pad in made a big difference. I got pretty comfy this afternoon and was about to try a little nap and along comes the rain in Georgia. I'm liking it so far but need some more practice. Any other suggestions from you BB owners will be helpful.

Congrats on the XLC, Deadwood. Keep at it and you'll get it dialed in to your liking. Everyone's different (for me following the video explicitly works best). HYOH!
Suggestions? Umm, I'd pitch the Superfly and nap in the rain

I have also found that once the hammock is rigged correctly, the final dial in is with my butt. Where that weight is distributed, makes a whole lot of difference in the ridge.

Re: Laying in the XLC question - help

You guys have been great with the suggestions. I've been able to take it to the park to test it out on a bigger range of serious and though I still haven't got it one hundred percent, I'm hoping that the next time I can overnight it that things go better. I seem to have it figured and will just have to keep testing to refine. Thank you! I'm update this once I can do the night, hopefully this week sometime. Cheers.

I just recieved my first WBBB and my first hang this weekend. I am new to the hammock thing as well. I experience the same ridge in the fabric and woke up with a sore back and stiff neck unable to really get comfortable. I really like the hammock and I hope its just in my set-up and operator error.

Look at combinations of all of the suggestions, especially fine tuning with your butt's position in the bed. I have been laid up in my Blackbird the last day and a half with my back thrown out. I am still dialing my lay in so I was playing with different configurations and combinations (RL tension, foot elevation, how far into the footbox etc) and have found many very comfortable positions with no calf strain.
Happily the best therapy for my back has been the WBBB!

Keep playing and you'll get it dialed in. Maybe there will be a BC central/coastal/VCI Hangout in the future somewhere.....there are enough of us around

    Cheers
