    Impacts can significantly reduce load bearing capability of materials. Might be a good idea stress/ practice a slow and controlled entry technique from a low hieght just to keep him safe and bruise free.

    Totally agree, I always use a low and slow entry method. Trying to teach other people that method is a very difficult task.

    Maybe easier after they bounce off the ground once or twice.

    I read awhile ago about some folks who have had table cloth hammocks fail premature. Something about thin spots. I wonder if a ripstop nylon might be not be better choice. You might reconsider your original thought of three layers, 3x1.9 ripstop would take the load and will likely hold up better over time.
