It'll work the way it's shipped. Triangle thingies just help keep it pulled tight at a better angle.
Great thank you
Hi hanglife,
To answer your question yes you can connect the UQ directly to the XLC without the triangle thingies and the UQ will work just fine out of the box.
However it is not as simple as looping the UQ suspension around the gathered ends of the hammock a lot more goes into hanging an UQ IMOH. Their is a bit of a learning curve when hanging an UQ. I do not know your personal experience with hanging UQ's nor do I know if you or possibly the friends you are going with are experienced hangers but I know the first night I used a zero degree phoenix in single digit temps I froze my butt off all night long because I had no practice in hanging the UQ prior to that night and I had way to much sag creating a huge cold pocket underneath me (user error). Luckily enough I was at a group hang (and I had plenty of extra insulation in my car right next to me so I made it safely through the night) but the next day I had experienced hangers show me how to hang an UQ properly and the next night I slept nice and cozy warm. If your going with experienced hangers who can help ya out the first night then awesome however if not I would would advise reading through the forum and getting an idea on how to dial in an UQ (also Shug's video's are very useful as well) and IMHO its worth finding the time to practice hanging the UQ before you go camping. However HYOH and have a great and safe trip
Sometimes I like to hike and think, And sometimes I just like to hike.
Hiking is'ent about waiting for the storm to pass its about learning to hike in the rain.
